Greetings from California!!!!
I like Gwen too, but I don't love her. She tries very hard to have a certain style and image. It is all her own but she has made sure to craft a unique look instead of the look being a natural occurance. I like No Doubt and look forward to hearing their new stuff, but I hope that it is good because if it is not then I will be very disappointed.

So, the way that it is looking, Kate Winslet will be nominated for two Academy Awards, which will make her the youngest actress to recieved seven nominations, this is great for Kate because she sets another record. However, I am afraid that she will loose in both categories and be the Peter O'Toole of the Academy Awards, with so many nominations but no wins. But we shall see how it goes when the awards are handed out.
I for one am disappointed that Leo wasn't nominated, I see "Best Actor" going to either Sean Penn for "Milk" for Frank Langella for "Froxt/Nixon", "Best Actress" is between Kate and Meryl, "Best Supporting Actress" the most buzz is for Kate again and "Best Supporting Actor" is a shoo-in for Heath Ledger.
I am really happy that "Desperate Housewives" recieved a nomination for "Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble Cast in a Comedy Series" because the quality of the show has really gone up and it is such a great show.
So, LK I've heard that there is much controversy surrounding who will accept the award for Heath if he does win, his family wishes that his father or family member accept the awards for him, but popular opinion wants Michelle Williams to accept the award on behalf of Heath and their daughter Matilda. Apparently his family does not want her to accept the awards for Heath because they were not together when he died. So, LK what do you think about the SAG nominations and who should accept for Heath Ledger?

I think there is a difference between Madonna and Britney, Madonna is much more verbal than Britney about her career and they are very similar but I think that with Britney's new album she is setting her own path for her career.
You know what show I miss, "Extras" that show was HI-larious. I never laughed so hard in my life watching the pilot. I don't have HBO so I haven't seen "True Blood" or some of the other shows that you mentioned but they definitely have quality shows.

So,Frank for the past few weeks,HBO has occupied my Sunday Nights. Before two weeks ago, the power house line up of True Blood and Entourage insured high ratings. However, after they ended, my friends and I still tuned into HBO for Summer Heights High. It's an Australian mockumentary focusing on Summer Heights High and 3 main characters: Jonah, an 8th grade trouble maker, Ja'mie, a junior year bitch and Mr. G a flamboyant drama teacher. All the characters are played by Chris Lilley, who has been called the Austrailain Ricky Gervase. The show is insanely offensive and hilarious. I can't rave enough about it. It shocks me and I laugh out loud every week. I highly reccommend youtubeing Summer Heights High if you can't watch it directly on HBO. It is so funny, it's definitely weird though. Some people won't appreciate the humor, but if you do, you can't get enough of the show!

People who can do no wrong are:
Sarah Michelle Gellar: Loved her since "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and I think she and the show were really over looked come award seasons because it was an amazing show and all it got were 11 nominations, won 3, but no nominations for the actors, and a Golden Globe nomination for SMG in 2001. She is also in some of my favorite movies: Cruel Intentions, I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream 2. I think she is a really good actress and I hope that she gets big recognition in the future.
Leona Lewis: Right now she is poised to be the "Next Mariah Carey" but I think that in time she will be merely "The Leona Lewis" I think she is a refreshing diva: Mariah is established, Celine is Adult Contemporary, Whitney is apparently making a comeback, and Beyonce annoys the hell out of me. I remember watching the original video for "Bleeding Love" back in October of 2007 on www.perezhilton.com and I fell in love with it and downloaded it at my first available oppertunity when it was released in January of this year, got the album the day it came out and I really love her new song "Run." She isn't fakely humble like Beyonce, she seems so sweet and I want big things for her.
Ellen and Oprah: I love them both, I love that Ellen is just fun and she can be political when it is necessary. I remember when Lawrence King was killed in February and she said: He was not a second class citizen and I am not a second class citizen. She's really incredible and I always liked her. I love Oprah because she is Oprah! In all honesty there is this je ne sais quio about her that is just appealing: she really touches people and reaches them like no one else was able to.
Rosie O'Donnell: I know she is loud and vocal and sometimes seems to be obnoxious but lets be honest, back in 2000 if you imagined being famous you wanted to be on her show. I like that she is blunt, honest, and doesn't back down.
Natalie Portman: She is one of my favorite actresses, gorgeous, talented and funny. I saw an her interview on "Inside the Actors Studio" and she is so cool. I'd love to meet her.
Reese Witherspoon: How can anyone have a problem with Reese, I mean really!?!?!
Speaking of another Tennessee woman: Dolly Parton. I listened to her a little when I was younger but when I got older and began to listen to her I was struck by the amazing fact that she has written every song she has ever recorded. Her version of "I Will Always Love You" in my opinion is better than Whitney's because while it lacks the intense vocal power of Whitney's performance, Dolly wrote the song and understands the emotional meaning of the song. I also love her songs, "Little Sparrow", "Here You Come Again" and "Travelin' Thru" and when I saw her perform at the 2006 Academy Awards she had such stage presence, she doesn't need any dancers or gimmicks, just Dolly, and she's just great.
Liza Minnelli and Barbra Streisand: Time to throw in my gay flag and say it: I love them. Along with Bette Davis and Judy Garland (who are dead so I didn't put them down) they are the two big singers still living and are so multi-talented. Actresses with dramatic and comedic talent, singers with incredible and unique voices, and I love how Liza talks freely about her mother, alcohol addiction and keeps on going, and Barbra is just an incredible singer, and she is an extremely liberal democrat so thats good!
Last not but not least, Michael Jackson: Oh the flack I've gotten from this, I know he polarizes people but he is perhaps the most talented man of the 20th and 21th century. I remember first buying "Thriller" the summer before 7th grade and I couldn't wait to get home to listen to it, I could feel something saying that it was special, and then I put it in and I didn't stop listening to it until I got another MJ cd. There is a song for every mood, emotion, scenario and I get him: I understand why he is the way he is and why he is so eccentric and has done some of the things he has done. AND NO HE DID NOT MOLEST ANYONE!
Leonardo DiCaprio-If it's not obvious, I'm in love. He's one of the best actors in Hollywood, he loves the environment, he's the hottest man alive. We're perfect for each other! Too bad he only dates supermodels...
Joe Biden-Ok, he's DC, but he is so badass. We needed a major upgrade after Cheney, could we have asked for anyone cooler?!
Emile Hirsch-So, So Hot and he's proven he's got some serious acting chops in movies like "Into The Wild," "Alpha Dog" and most recently, "Milk."
Anderson Cooper-He's a journalist, just like me! His eyes and his hair and his in-depth reports...we've talked about him before but I just love him.
Charisma Carpenter-my girl crush. she did a guest stint on Greek recently. She's gorgeous, an awesome actress and last year TV guide did an interview with her and I was literally laughing out loud at some of her answers.
Zooey Deschanel-She & Him. Download it. (I know some of her movies suck, i.e. "Yes Man," but she is still awesome.)
Tina Fey-What a year. Read the Vanity Fair Interview, she's so cool and so realistic, you feel like you know someone just like her. Also, she made it cool to be a writer. Go Tina!!
Ellen & Oprah-thank god for day time talk shows. Although, when Ellen is dramatic and sad, like when she cried about the dog, I hate it, but when Oprah is happy it's boring. Give me "Oprah, my child was molested now how do I handle it," any day.
...so Frank, some of your Hollywood loves?
Kate Winslet on the cover of New York Magazine

Inside the magazine it says on page 42:
Early in her career, Winlset gave the impression of being a frail, neurasthenic thing. No more. In her husband Sam Mendes's film Revolutionary Road, she portrays a suburban mother desperately afraid of losing her openness, her self, and the performance is by turns frightnenly vulnerable and rock-hard: She rages against the dying of her inner light. She battles with her husband (Leonardo DiCaprio) are so intense, so visceral, that you know there can be no survivors. That she turned around and delivered an entirely different heart-rendering performance in The Reader makes her this year's most astounding chameleon.
The accolades are rolling in!
Reaction to the Golden Globe nominations
I noticed that most of the nominated shows are on cable. In fact only three shows out of the ten shows nominated (five for Drama and five for Comedy) are network shows: House, 30 Rock and The Office. I haven't seen many of the shows nominated actually, so I can't comment on "True Blood" although I hear it's a great show. I'm happy for all the nominees but I think in the category of "Best Actress in a Television Series- Musical or Comedy" is gonna go to Tina Fey, let's face it it's her year and she already won the Emmy Award for it, if she doesn't win I think that Christina Applegate stands a strong chances.
As for "The Dark Knight" I think it got the nomination that it was going to get: "Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture." It probably got overlooked because it was a) released in the summer and b) a superhero movie. I know it was a critical darling but the reality is that fantasy films, sci-fi films and superhero films have a hard time getting award recognition from the Hollywood Foreign Press and the Academy because they are not dramas. Who knows, maybe the Academy will look at it differently but at least Heath is a lock for posthumous recognition this award season.
For my final contribution: I really hope that Kate gets what she deserves this year. I know that people will say that "the best person always wins and it's not about deserving it or not" but she has been overlooked at the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards and has not won....once! Nominated for "Sense and Sensibility" and lost to Mira Sorvino...who went to make "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion" love that movie but lets be real! Nominated for "Titanic" lost to Helen Hunt who fell of the face of the earth after making "What Women Want", nominated for "Iris" lost to Jennifer Connelly who hasn't made a good movie since "A Beautiful Mind"....she was in "Little Children" but really did she do much??? Nominated for "Eternal Sunshine" and lost to Hilary Swank, I know that "Million Dollar Baby" was a great film, but so was "Eternal Sunshine"!!!! And then she was nominated for "Little Children" but who stood a chance in hell of beating Helen Mirren, I mean really!
I've been watching and reading reviews for "The Reader" and while some critics have mixed reviews for the material itself she is definitely getting all the praise for her performance. I hope that she gets nominated for "Revolutionary Road" and wins because she is a "Best Actress!" I know that you think that Sean Penn is going to get the Oscar for "Milk" but wouldn't it be so cool to see her and Leo both win 11 years after "Titanic"
Anne Hathaway. I heard Rachel Getting Married was incredible and she's so talented. I like a lot of the actresses nominated this year.
Check out Miley grabbing Golden Globe nods!
So, obviously, the GG snubbed the Dark Night a little. Why? I mean, come on, there is no real competition there is no way Heath isn't getting the best supporting actor oscar this year. I know he was nominated, but really, no one else?
And of course, I'm excited that Meryl Streep and Kate got nominations, but seriously, if Kate doesn't win an Oscar soon, I'm going to protest the Academy.
I LOVE AWARD SEASON. Let's talk TV nods.

...True Blood racked them up! It really is such a well done show, the acting is great, the writing is twisty and it's on HBO so it can be quite racy. And The Best Actress in A Comedy Series nominees I really like. I love Tina Fey, she is the greatest! (In Vanity Fair this month), but I really like Christina Applegate and Mary Louise Parker as well. Dexter, True Blood, Mad Men, 30 Rock...tons of contenders. I'm pretty happy with the Golden Globes this year, save for the Dark Night thing. Thoughts?

So, LK, what do you think of the nominations in the field of film. I for one am estatic that Kate and Meryl got two nominations, the only problem is that if Kate continues to be nominated for both films at the Academy Awards she risks not winning any, like Cate Blanchett did last year for "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" and "I'm Not There", but if she does get nominated for one or both films, she will be the youngest actress to recieve six or seven Academy Awards, GO KATE!

She's Definitely Back: Britney Debuted BIG!!!!
Lets see: Mary Kate pregnat, I can't see it...if she were I'd be shocked but I think that she is just putting on some weight and good for her.
Cameron Diaz is definitely not my favorite actress by any stretch of imagination but she can be good performance like she did in "Being John Malcovitch" but that was ten years ago. Who knows, maybe she'll pull it off. I haven't read "My Sister's Keeper" but I hear that all of her books are good. I wouldn't recast "Titanic" it'd be like saying that you could make "Gone With the Wind" without Vivian Leigh, Clarke Gable, Olivia de Havilland and Hattie McDaniel, it's just not possible. There are a few film's I would recast, but I can't remember them at the top of my head.
I think I was curious about Janet because she was really successful, but she can't really keep up with the rest of the R&B/pop females of today, which is interesting because many of them were partially inspired by her (and of course Madonna). So it's strange that she is now copying them when they got their start by copying her. The wardrobe malfunction probably had something to do with it, cast her in a negative light that she hasn't been able to avoid but I think overall the Superbowl performance was entirely overblown! She got all the blame because it was her boob while Justin Timberlake got in like flynn and it's not fair. Probably because she's a woman and he's a man....
So, the Critics Choice nominations were announced today and overall I'm not surprised. They are usually a pretty good predictor of the Academy Awards, more so than the Golden Globes or the Screen Actors Guild. Here is the list:

So, LK, based on the list, any surprises, disappointments and based on what you've seen and read what do you expect.
If Arrested Development was a movie, I'd definitely see it. That show was so funny, and the cameos they could get. Amy, Ellen. Hello?! You know what though, I really don't like Jason Bateman's character. For some reason, he jut gets on my nerves. I know you're supposed to like him, but I like Lindsay much more than Michael. Tobias is definitely the funniest character though. What a great show.
Other TV shows I'd like to see made into movies..hm it's tough because sometimes the transition is great, i.e. SATC, but sometimes it sucks. I heard they're trying to redo Buffy, but actually make it a good movie with the cast from the show. I'd love that. Lipstick Jungle could be spun, Weeds. It's hard though because sometimes TV takes characters as far as they can go.
"My Sister's Keeper," a novel by Jodi Picoult is going to be a movie. Cameron Diaz is in it, which I don't know how I feel about. She's fine, but she's not really who I'd picture in the part of a mother with a dying daughter. Did you ever read the book? Sometimes I wish I could cast films. OOOH! Let's do that. Who would you recast Titanic with? What a good game.
Everyone go see Milk. Sean Penn is going to win the Oscar. Josh Brolin, James Franco and Emile Hirsch will blow you away.
Janet, honestly, Frank. I've lost interest. I mean earlier there were some stories about her yo-yoing weight, but that was it. She hasn't been in the public eye really all that much since the wardrobe malfunction and she hasn't had success like the Velvet Rope since the Velvet Rope. And I saw an interview earlier this year, and she seemed like she was heading down the crazy road via Michael. Sorry, I know you love him. I was never huge Janet fan though, so you'd know more than I would...where's she been?

Amy Poehler and Will Arnet are hysterical, I didn't know that you liked "Arrested Development" that show was so underrated and HI-larious! The twin sister is a huge fan of the show, funny side note: she thinks Liza Minnelli is cool not because of "Cabaret" or she other stuff but because she is Lucille Austero in "Arrested Development" and I hear they might be making a movie.
Question, if they make a movie out of "Arrested Development" with the original cast would you see it? Additionally, what other television shows would you like to see made into a feature film?
So, today I was listening to Janet Jackson and I'm still confused as to what happened to her? Here is someone who became famous enough to not be compared to her brother, has ten number one singles, five Grammy Awards, and her albums "Control", "Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814", "Janet", "The Velvet Rope" and "All For You" were excellent multi-platinum best sellers. So why is it that her music career is not what it used to be? Was it the wardrobe malfunction, not reinventing herself like Madonna, or did people just lose interest? I have my own thoughts but I wanted to see what you (LK) and other readers have to say. So leave your comments and thoughts!
I love the video. And Amy Poheler. I love Will Arnett too, they must be the funniest couple ever, I want to be friends with them. Arrested Development was so underappreciated.
Gossip Girl is SO good tonight.
Coming later: Milk Review.
Additionally, a mutual friend wrote on my facebook wall and corrected me: Kanye does have bling. However, I still maintain that he is not as bad as some artists with their bling.
OJ getting sentenced was a done deal, who in their right mind is not going to convict OJ of a crime now? Not really a question really, rather a statement, but really now. haha
So, Amy Poehler was on Saturday Night Live this last weekend doing her Hillary impersonation, HI-larious!
Yeah, from what I hear "Lipstick Jungle" is not exactly cancelled, but no new episodes have been ordered beyond the 13 that were ordered at the end of last season, so we shall see. I hear it is really racy, but Lucy Lui was actually on the show last season but this year she is on "Dirty Sexy Money" don't know why, do you?
Madonna and A-Rod are sort of dating, it's not declared, it's sorta like Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson, dating but not explicably public as previous relationships, I would say that Madge and A-Rod are rebounds for eachother.
Saturday, December 6, 2008
So, OJ finally got sentenced. 15 years after he murdered someone, so that's good news.
And, my new TV obsession, it's not a reality show, thank god. I'm seriously trying to break that habit, it was getting bad for a while. As soon as I started watching Real Chance of Love, I knew it was time for an intervention. So, my TV obsession: Lipstick Jungle. It's based on a novel by Candace Bushnell, and there have been rumours circulation about it possibly being canceled, so it's been in the news kind of recently. I liked the book, but I love the show, which usually isn't the case with most book to screen conversions. Brooke Shields, Kim Raver and Lindsay Price play the main characters, there's been some backlash saying Lindsay Price is too young to play Victory Ford, but I think she's pretty dead on. The problem with the show is that it airs Fridays at 10, so I always watch it online the next day. They got a ton of DVR hits. It's very twisty and actually kind of racy for network TV, although racy for network TV is changing by the day.
So Shania Twain was spotted in Manhattan with the ex of her former BFF, who apparently had an affair with Mutt Lange and broke up her marriage. juicy. Is this another Heather Locklear-Denise Richards with a much less famous Denise Richards situation?
And are Madonna and A-Rod dating? : ( I don't like him...

I still can't understand why Katy Perry got shafted, from what I've read her album was met with mixed critical reception, but considering the strength of "I Kissed A Girl" and "Hot N Cold" she should have been nominated for Best New Artist. Now, Leona Lewis got three nominations: Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Bleeding Love" and Best Pop Vocal Album for "Spirit" but she deserved a Best New Artist considering "Bleeding Love" was a huge hit and her album is a hit as well! But in other Leona news, she has a new song "Run" which is a cover of the Snow Patrol song, and it is exquisite! The only problem is that it is only technically available in the United Kingdom and Europe, but listen to it/or watch the video on youtube, here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcpWQC9prm0. But in good news, one of my favorite celebrities Kathy Griffin (so funny!) was nominated for Best Comedy Album for her CD "For Your Consideration" it's soo funny and I listen to it all the time, I hope she wins it!
Haha, I agree about Anderson Cooper, he counts as hot and adorable, which is hard to do you are either one or the other but he does it both. Apparently he is gay, but I understand his privacy about it, it has nothing to do with his job. I think that's the distinction: if you are an actor or singer or entertainer you're personal life is as important to people as your career. So if you are an actor or singer coming out is necessary because then there is not hiding. But if you are a journalist your personal life has nothing to do with it unless you are a personality like Katie Couric. So, if Anderson is gay but in the closet I see nothing wrong with it...as long as he is happy.
So, where has Kelly Clarkson been?
Thursday, December 4, 2008
Leona grabbed a lot of nominations though, no? I haven't heard her albums, just the singles, but the girl's got some power behind her voice. Lil Wayne got the most though, I think. His album is really, really good. It's different than anything I've ever heard, and Lil Wayne is a super talented rapper. I was expecting Katy Perry to get more nominations too. Her voice is rough, raspy, kind of like Pink, who if I'm not mistaking also grabbed at least one nomination for "So What."
Queen Latifiah is so likeable. She was awesome in Hairspray and Chicago, the Academy agreed, she was nominated for Chicago, but lost out to fellow Chicago supporting actress, CZJ, whom I also love. Actually, a bit of a guilty pleasure, I loved the movie "Bringing Down the House." And it's like my mom's favorite movie. She loves the queen as well. And of course it doesn't matter that she's a lesbian! As long as she's not trying to get married in California, (Bad call, CA, by the way), who cares? Is she actually a lesbian, I thought no one knew.
Speaking of are they gay or aren't they...what do you think about CNN's Anderson Cooper? He is the second great love of my life, after Leonardo, of course. He is fantastic journalist, he's so dedicated to his work, his reports are so thorough. He's got those piercing blue eyes and the silver fox hair. Is it getting hot in here?
So, is he gay?
Wednesday, December 3, 2008
Additionally the Grammy nominations were announced and I'm shocked that Leona Lewis didn't get nominated for "Best New Artist" and that Katy Perry was only nominated in the category of "Best Female Pop Vocal Performance" for the "I Kissed A Girl", I thought she would get at least get a "Best New Artist" nominations, considering the song was number one for seven weeks.
So, tonight I watched "Last Holiday" and I really like Queen Latifah, what do you think of her? Apparently she is a lesbian, does it matter if she is and would anyone really care?
I saw "Party Monster" and it's definitely one of those "WHOA!" movies. Seeing Maculay Culkin smoke crack is something to behold and I can never look at Seth Green the same way: "I don't do, I just am!" Also Marilyn Manson as a cross dresser is bizarre. Overall a good movie but I like the soundtrack more "Money, Success, Fame, Glamour." "Saved" was a great criticsm on intolerance, Mandy Moore was actually good in the movie. Question, how long is Jena Melone gonna play a teenager?
Macaulay Culkin. What a wild one that kid is. Well, I mean who doesn't love Home Alone? It's a classic. I actually really a like another movie he is with Seth Green (buffy alum!) and Chloe Sevigny called Party Monster. It's about James St. James' book "Disco Bloodbath," which chronicles his life and the life of Michael Alig and the other club kids. Culkin is really good in it because Alig is not easy to play, he's like severely disturbed and Culkin nails it. That was in 2003, and then he was in Saved!, a movie I also loved, but I haven't heard much of him since then. I'm pretty sure he wrote a book though, so maybe he's just taking a break or something.
So, what are your thoughts on Chelsea Handler? I haven't read her latest book yet, but I really want to, she's so funny. I saw her on The View, and I thought maybe she'd be like tame-ish, but she really wasn't. She wasn't rude, but she definitely wasn't fake. I wonder how her ratings for her show are? I watch you, Chelsea!
This was the year of Tina Fey, 30 Rock won seven Emmy Awards, one for her as "Outstanding Actress" and plus the whole Sarah Palin impersonations. You know she is going to be on the Barbara Walters special on Thursday.
I'm not a businessman but I think that the auto companies do need help because it's part of our legacy and our history and if we let GM and the other two go down, it's like losing something. But I think that something should be in place for them to have to reciprocate the money used to aid them.
So I was watching "Home Alone" last night, what are your thoughts of Maculay Culkin?

HAPPY TURKEY/TOFURKEY DAY TO ALL!
Her old hits are the best hits, but she's sorta like Madonna, the oldies are where it's at, but the new ones are good and keep their careers going. I liked "The Emancipation" and "E=MC2" but they suffer by comparison to the old albums. As for her marriage, it doesn't shock me that there is an age difference because she has always said that she is eternally 13, you can sort of see it in how she dresses. If she does have children I think it would be good for her, but I can't image MC as a mother (but I guess people said the same about Madonna and Britney and Nicole Ritchie etc) so is she becomes a mom, more power to her.
Not much to report on the gossip front today, too much food to think about.
Happy Thanksgiving and Black Friday to all!

The phrasing is perfect....hahaha, I've never seen "Celebrity Rehab" but I hear it's intense.
As for Beyonce. She's kinda like Renee and those other actresses we talked about, something about her just rubs me the wrong way. Don't get me wrong, she is a very good singer, and her acting is not terrible, but she just doesn't seem real to me. I don't think she'd be a good candidate for "Wonder Woman" knowing her she'd have to record the theme song and it'd sound like "Put A Ring On It" but instead be about how she's wonder woman and you'd better treat her nice or she'll use the lasso of truth. Charisma Carpenter would be good as Wonder Woman, I think if I had to chose between Megan Fox and Jessica Biel I'd have to go for Jessica because even though Megan is very good looking, she is too skinny for the part.
Random, but apparently Mariah Carey might be pregnat with Nick Cannon's baby. Thoughts?
I just read something that said it wasn't. Those two will do anything for publicity, so I wouldn't put it past them. I JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE ANYMORE. The Hills is fading though. Whitney is getting her own show. I hope that is the end of the semi-reality show craze. Not that I am in a position to judge anyone for watching anything, I am a reality TV junkie. My latest obsession is Celebrity Rehab. Maybe I should have phrased that differently.
People.com has a picture of Isla Fisher and her baby on their homepage. I love her, and I can't wait for Confessions of A Shopaholic.
So totally unrelated, Beyonce is lobbying to play Wonder Woman. What do you think? Personally, I just don't think she's right for it. My top pick: Charisma Carpenter. She's got the perfect look for Wonder Woman. I think Jessica Beil and Megan Fox are too skinny and I just can't see Beyonce in the roll. Thoughts?

LK what do you think?
Tuesday, November 25, 2008
I agree about Gwyneth, she is annoying (even though I thought she wasn't bad in "Iron Man"). I think she is kinda like Hillary Clinton, people are just naturally turned off to her. So, I think we should now trash Renee Zellweger. Does anyone like Renee anymore???? She is even worse than Charlize Theron. "I'm gonna get fat and have a british accent, hopefully that will get me an Oscar" FAIL, "I'm gonna get really skinny and sing, maybe that will win me an Oscar" FAIL, "I'm gonna tramp around with a southern accent in a movie about the Civil War" Non-FAIL, but not as Best Actress *BURN* And now what does she do???? I dunno, to me she is worse than Gwyneth and Charlize....combined!
So, LK, what else shall we discuss?
X-tina and Brit...good question. I kinda think this comparison is over. I mean, when Christina came out with "Genie in A Bottle," it was the same kind of bubble gum pop as Britney, and no one really knew how iconic/media-attractive Brit would become, they were both just blonde teenage singers. They were kinda even, and for a while, Xtina was more in the spotlight. Especially during the "Dirrrty", weird piercing days, but I think their rolls are pretty cemented now. Christina's voice is more powerful, no question, but Britney is definitely the bigger celebrity. People are more fixated on Brit herself, but more impressed by Christina's talent. So Frank, I'd say that at this point, they're the apples and oranges cliche, they're just not similar enough to compare. I'd say Christina is comparable to Mary J. Blige. Her voice is incredible, she's got a strong following, but she's not the most-watched celeb. Britney is more Madonna, bigger celebrity, bigger controversy, not the biggest voice.

Nicole Kidman
LK and I have a divided opinion of Nicole Kidman, I found this on Perez and I think it can start a pretty interesting discussion:
From The Times
November 20, 2008
Nicole Kidman drifts about like a lost porcelain doll
There is a fatal error in the casting of Australia's epic of self-promotion
Melanie Reid
Oh dear, oh dear. The Australians are investing a huge amount of expectation, and many millions of promotional dollars, in an epic movie intended to reinvigorate tourism and a sense of national pride.
You know the kind of thing. Great raw, soaring landscapes, wild brumbies, rough blokes, mystical Aborigines, a gorgeous sheila, fair bit of Foster's. Sort of Crocodile Dundee with gravitas, or Picnic at Hanging Rock with sex - and therefore, in most people's eyes, a potential hit.
Australia the movie, however, has one huge problem. It stars Nicole Kidman. Big mistake. Big, big mistake. At a stroke, the world's female cinemagoers will say as one: “I'm not going to see it if she's in it.”
Kidman is one of those women who turns other women off. And no, not just because she's pretty and we're jealous. It is because we perceive, and men don't, that she's one of the most overrated actors in the world, a woman who has been the kiss of death in practically every movie she has starred in.
Background
Kidman is exquisitely accomplished at being awful. Did anyone see Cold Mountain? The sweeping American epic (note: another epic) foundered on the rocks of her gormless mirror-gaze. She can't act. Instead, she drifts around films like a lost porcelain doll, looking frozen, brittle and vapid, staring at the camera with her oh-golly-look-how-I'm-looking-interesting blue eyes.
And today's (predominantly male) directors haven't quite woken up to the fact that it just isn't enough for female actors just to wander around like supermodels: they need another skill too. Like emotion.
Kidman was said to be superb in To Die For. She was merely cold and brittle in a part that demanded it. That doesn't make her a comic genius. She managed to make Eyes Wide Shut - that “odyssey of sexual and moral discovery” with Tom Cruise - without creating a single intellectual or sexual spark.
Swiftly, she specialised in not-very-good thrillers about obsessives and haunted women. She gave good red carpet. Kidman became a cipher for men's desires; she simpered, gasped and screamed just as any helpless Hitchcockian blonde victim should.
But Kidman is guilty of something else. Not only did she get away with it, but she has spawned a genre of similarly flawless female actors who pout and scream very beautifully, but cannot act to save their lives: Gwyneth Paltrow, Keira Knightley - with faces like atrophied dolls, capable of adjusting their emotions only on direction; the biggest screen turn-offs in decades.
Australia the country deserves redder blood than this.
I'll admit that there is a certain coldness and quietness in Nicoles performance but they are not all the same
1. "The Hours" for which she won an Oscar. She transformed herself physically and while the character is a rather sad one, she is not blank....actually she is quite the opposite.
2. "The Others" which she was nominated for a Golden Globe for "Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture- Drama" and "Best Actress" at the Las Vegas Film Critics Circle.
3. "Practical Magic" while the film is not that great, she is fun and refreshing as a sexually liberated woman who is unafraid to push peoples buttons and be herself.
4. "Moulin Rouge!" her is campy, dramatic, sympathetic and seductive. She was nominated and won the Golden Globe for "Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture- Comedy or Musical" and was nominated for the Academy Award, she was second to win to Halle Berry.
So lets not criticize Nicole's acting ability, sure her face is very hard (talk about that) and she needs to (like Gwyneth) pick better scripts, but she is not a bad actress at all. For the record, I wanna see "Austrailia."
LK what do you think?
I don't think that Jen is necessarily a spinster but it is very sad that she can't seem to find love like she had with Brad. I mean Reese found Jake, they aren't married yet but that doesn't count, and she seems very happy and optimistic about the future. With Jen I'm not really sure, she says she is happy but I dunno if I believe it 100%.
Heidi and Spencer.....they are fucktards but at least they acknowledge that they are fucktards so I don't mind them as much as I do some people.
So, I just got done listening to Britney's new album Circus which you can hear at www.britney.com. In one word it is AMAZING: what makes it special is that her voice is not hidden and morphed like her previous album. Also it is really eclectic, unlike Rihanna's Good Girl Gone Bad, the album has real depth and is a great listen. Don't forget to watch "Britney: For the Record" on MTV at 10 pm on November 30, 2008.
Speaking of another female popstar, who Britney's new album reminds me of, I'm listening to Cyndi Lauper right now and she has some great stuff besides what she put out in the 1980s. Her new album ,which came out in the summer, Bring Ya To the Brink is a great dance album and my favorite song is "Rain On Me" which is a gorgeous album. Also she had a cover album in 2003 called At Last and her voice is exquisite.
Also I've been listening to Leona Lewis, since last September when I discovered her on Perez, and her new song "Run" is amazing.
So, LK question? Do people still like Christina Aguilera? Obviously she is very talented but do they have the same connection to her like they have to Britney? Discuss
I'm still Team Jen. She's not a spinster, she's dating John Mayer. I don't know why though. She should get back with Vince Vaughn, I liked them together.
AND heidi and spencer apparently got married? He is so unattractive, SHAVE YOUR BEARD, Spencer. You look like you're 14. How long do you think this marriage will last?

As for David Spade-who knows man, maybe he is very well endowed...LoL
Paris and Benji...in all honesty I am just heartbroken about it, really I mean Paris is such a sweet girl and I hope she finds happiness.....NOT! Seriously she needs to just stop.
So I was on perez today and saw an article about how Jennifer Aniston has gone from America's Sweetheart to America's Spinster. Too true.
WHAT?!
Prince reportedly denounced gay marriage this week. Not the most popular view amongst Hollywood, also, THE WRONG ONE. Isn't this the same guy that sang "Little Red Corvette?" So, you can write an entire song based on sexual innuendo, but gays can't married. dumb dumb dumb.
Madge's divorce was approved. Guy Ritchie sucks.
Paris and Benji broke up. I don't care.
Frank, what about you, what's your take on the pop culture buzz?
